Things to see and do in Larnaca
Places to Visit

Larnaca Salt Lake & Hala Sultan Tekke
A huge shimmering lake that turns pure white in summer and pink with flamingos in winter. On its edge sits the exquisite Ottoman mosque built in 1787 around the tomb of Umm Haram, surrounded by palms and absolute peace. At sunrise the golden dome reflects perfectly while flamingos feed just metres away.

Church of Saint Lazarus
One of the finest Byzantine churches in Cyprus—built in 890 over the (second) tomb of Lazarus after he was resurrected and became bishop here. Inside: dazzling golden iconostasis, frescoed crypt, and the scent of incense thick enough to taste.

Finikoudes Beach & Promenade
A long ribbon of golden sand lined with towering date palms. By day it’s sunbathers and ice-cream; by night it’s fairy lights, live music, and families strolling with cones bigger than their heads.
Mackenzie Beach
The cooler, younger sister of Finikoudes—fine grey sand, beach bars pumping chill-out beats, and planes landing so low you can wave at passengers. Best fish tavernas in Cyprus line the back.
Zenobia Wreck
A 172-metre Swedish ferry that sank on her maiden voyage in 1980—now lying perfectly on her port side in 16–42 m of water. Trucks still in the hold, soft corals everywhere, and massive grouper that follow you like dogs.
Larnaca Fort & Medieval Museum
Tiny castle at the end of Finikoudes—built by the Ottomans, used by the British as a prison, now a quiet museum with sea views and summer concerts on the ramparts.
