Things to see and do in Guangzhou
Places to Visit

Sacred Heart Cathedral
China’s largest Gothic stone church, built 1863–1888. Twin spires and stained glass stand amid modern skyscrapers—a colonial architectural treasure.

Canton Tower
The 600m twisted spire, opened in 2010, is Guangzhou’s modern icon. Ride to the 488m deck, try the sky drop, or see the city sparkle at night from the bubble tram.

Guangzhou Opera House
Zaha Hadid’s “twin pebbles” design (2010) hosts Cantonese opera and symphonies. Its futuristic form glows beautifully along the Pearl River at night.
Shamian Island
This colonial-era island (1859–1943) preserves European buildings, churches, and tree-lined streets. A peaceful contrast to Guangzhou’s urban energy.
Yuexiu Park
Guangzhou’s largest park with the Five Rams Statue, Zhenhai Tower (1380), and lakes. Climb the tower for history and panoramic city views.
Beijing Road Pedestrian Street
This 1.2km shopping street features luxury brands, street food, and underground Ming-era ruins. Night markets and performers create vibrant energy.
